When it gets stupid, we have a safety valve.
In the army you have the OC’s hour, in a Democratic Monarchy you have HMTQ and her local rep.
To: His Excellency, Anand Satyanand, Governor General of New Zealand
We, the undersigned, being gravely concerned that the New Zealand House of Representatives intends to retrospectively legalise previous violations of the Electoral Act and thus usurp the Constitution of New Zealand and its democratic processes, earnestly petition Your Excellency, as representative of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, Queen of New Zealand, that Your Excellency withhold the Royal Assent from any such legislation as an assertation that Members of Parliament govern subject to the will of the people of New Zealand at Her Majesty’s pleasure and not at their own.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
Go forth loyal citizens and drop your head of state a line.
UPDATE: Greetings visitors from the pro-republican site. Read carefully – reading comprehension seems to be a weakness of republicans – I said “greetings”, not “welcome”. Lewis seems to have become confused into thinking we’re having a conversion. We’re not. This is a pro-Monarchist site, I do not encourage, link to, promote or provide readership to separatists. Before you waste your time typing comments, READ THE POST. Nowhere have I made any claims in this post regrading the powers of the GG. Lewis has, you can accept them or check his claims if you choose. What you can’t do is show up here after reading whatever nappy soiling howly bag he’s had, and claim I said things I haven’t. For the love of god people, you have eyes and a brain, do your own thinking and read before you type.
Kiwis in large numbers are pissed off, and being a democratic monarchy we have the right to petition the GG, regardless of the outcome. People want to speak up in these dark days as our democracy is being dismantled. Who the hell are you to try and shut them up?
And finally:
God Bless Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, Queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Head of the Commonwealth, Lord High Admiral, Supreme Governor of the Church of England (Defender of the Faith), Lord of Mann, Duke of Lancaster and Duke of Normandy and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed forces.

All done. Call me cynical, but do you think that it is going to make a blind bit of difference?

The Governor-General can’t simply fire the government of the day Murray. They are bound by constitutional convention; in any case should Satch so much as peep that he might fire Clark, Clark will tell the Queen (who is constitutionally bound to accept her Prime Ministers advice) to recall the Governor-General. Which means that writing letters to the Governor-General will do squat, because even if they wanted to act, they can’t.

Firstly Lewis, where in this post did I say the GG should fire the government? Much as he should as it is clearly not a legitimate govermment.
However I’m sure the Whitlam government will be most comforted by your personal interpretation of how a consititutional monarchy works Lewis.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gough_Whitlam Oh darn!
As always your personal slant is just that and highly slanted. Being a devout if not myopic republican you have frequently chosen to attack both the monarchy and its supporters with some of the most inaccurate and offensive posts by way of personal attacks I’ve seen which is one of the many reasons I have no money to spare hosting your personal agenda on my site/sites.
Don’t bother coming back, just do one of your defamatory posts on your own site claiming I’ve said things I haven’t and making consititutional assesments that suit yourself with no reference to facts or history.
You seem to have more interest in me than I have in you. You should get that looked at.
By the way, more Kiwis are monarchists than republicans, deal with it.

Well it might not do any good Exocet but it sure is humming away.
Kiwis are letting the Government know their feelings.

Lewis get’s the smack!!

Why must it end!? He needs a good wooping on a regular basis, that guy.
She’s a good petition for all sorts of reasons. Gives everyone another form of expression and produces a vocalisation to show we’re not gonna take it.

Whut! No tea party, no muskets, ….let me explain God only knows they get it wrong on this side of the hemisphere! democratic (small d) a process, republic a form of government with varying degress of democratic processes, monarchy rule by divine right. WestVirgina, government rule by cousins.( and bribery and pig roasts …)

Why did I follow the link??? I’ve come to the site of a (presumably) adult who plays dress up on the weekend. Saxon warrior in public, Malibu Stacey at home?
October 19, 2006 at 10:34 am |
And this ladies and gentlemen is what we call another pig fucking ignorant republican who has shown up simply to attack and abuse. Having legitimate beef “tom” makes an asumption (the mother of all fuck-ups) and opens his yap.
No “tom” I do not belong to any Saxon Warrior reenactment group. I’m an armourer, I make costume arms and armour for living as well as ancient and medievel artillery. People give me money to do it if thats alright with you. Not that its actually any of you fucking business.
And as I run my own business (also not yours) if I want to dress up I’ll do it any day of the bloody week that suits me. I’m sure you find being a cubicle drone much more to your own abilities.
It’s good enough for Richard Taylor it’s bloody well good enough for me. So shove your Full of Shirt Barbie ensemble up your ass and fuck off back you the rebulican bitch chamber.
Off you go little man.
Don’t forget your nappy.
And now back to our scheduled program…

Gee where to start? At risk of offending anybody, what sort of safety valve is it if it doesn’t relieve any pressure. The petition is a chance to vent your spleen, not participate in the democratic process.
October 20, 2006 at 7:45 am |
Righto. I’ll keep an eye out for the guy dressed as Malibu Stacey at Armageddon this weekend.
October 20, 2006 at 8:35 am |
That would called a “mirror” tom.
Amusing, comes in slings abuse then admits to being one step down from a trekie.

Actually given you fixation I think we’ll just call you “Waylon” from now on.
