So anyway a couple of weeks ago a friend of mine calls me all excited about the helicopter ride he got with a cool uber-steady cam to get footage for an animation he was working on.

As he said it’s fun to spend $17,000 of someone else’s money. Must be damn near tripping to spend $500,000 then I guess. I digress. consequently about 3.2 seconds after the Herald puts this up…

I get the outraged text message which involved some choice words re: the Herald and WETA. News flash for news people - New Zealand has more than ONE operation capable of animation work.

The work was in fact carried out by three Unitec Lecturers. David Rhodes - long hired podgey layabout and hard core tree hugger who is in no way related to “Toby” Rhodes the dog got himself on the electoral roll… other than having the same bloody minded dad of course. And his two co radicals Brett Oran and Zane Egginton.

A new company that is currently nameless but may well be called Three Radicals after I suggested it.

So anyway he’s giving me full rant when when he says “have to go, Herald on the other line”. What could this mean?

Well watch the animation anyway. It’s the nearest thing you’ll get to a finish stadium this side of 2010.

UPDATE: TV3 reports that the government turns to WETA to use the talents that brought us LOTR to produce this animation.

TV3 may now be found in the dictionary as a text book example of WRONG. Not made by WETA, not made by anyone who worked on LOTR, not made for the government. You can see the name of the company that paid for the work on the animation.

What is that TV3 “News” does again? Someone help me out here because every single time you look into any story they run you find it’s either not entirely accurate or is in fact completely without facts.
