If you truly want to know just how "green" Mr. Gore's motives are, look into the companies in which he places his "carbon offsets." I did and the evidence is provides brilliant clarity on his motives.

Alisa - AS a little follow up, the Wall Street Journal's online site is reporting that the carbon offsets which Mr. Gore purchases are purchased from a "for profit" company of which Mr. Gore has an ownership interest.

In other words, Mr. Gore is paying himself for the carbon offsets.

The Tennessee records may be public due to the power being supplied by a governmental body (most governmental bodies are subject to fairly expansive 'freedom of information' acts)..

Most of Illinois has its power supplied by private utilities rather than a governmental entity and it is much harder to get at them.

Alisa - Gore has admitted the substance of the chages (i.e. he acknowledges the accuracy of the figures quoted).

Gore's explanation is that he is "trying to cut down on use" (even though his use is going up rather than down) and that he buys "carbon offsets" for his private jet use (i.e. he is rich and can buy indulgences for his sins, while us peons are supposed to actually severely impact our lives).

Gore is the quintessential hypocrite.

*Chuckle @ Inconvenient Power Bill*

I was in a more forgiving mind before hearing him come out and say they're "planning" a big renovation project for energy efficiency. That’s just a knee-jerk “we’ve been caught with our hand in the cookie jar – quick, deny everything and spin it!”

If he had half a brain, he would have come out and said “yes, it’s a very large facility that partly serves as my family’s home. However, it also provides full-time employment for more than a dozen people – so it is, in that fashion, more like a business than a standard single-family dwelling.”

I would be a great political spin doctor – but I’ve never known a candidate I would support unconditionally.

I’, trying to work out what on earth could use up that much electricity in Al Gore’s home.

Treach thinks he could be a Terminator from the future, and needs to recharge.

I think he's inventing more internet.

He does? LOL!

Tearing down the story is the last thing I want to do. All I want is when someone is accusing someone else of something ugly, be they left, right or whatever, they back this accusation with something more than just hearsay. That way we don't give our opponents an easy weapon with which to attack the story. That goes both for you and your source. As it happens, though, it seems that Zen has done the job for both of you, so yes, slam dunk.
