I posted on this over at A Western Heart, and got the following comment from Melbourne lawyer Jeremy Sears (aka “Mr Lefty):

“First, Gore doesn’t represent “the left”.

Second, what’s the “Tennessee Center for Policy Research”’s source? They don’t cite it. How would they get his gas and electricity bills?

And thirdly, doesn’t journalism require checking what the person’s response to the claims is? What does Gore say when confronted with those claims? Does he agree with the TCPR’s figures? What’s his explanation?

…or you can just continue with your stupid rant. Sorry for interrupting.”

  2. kg Says:

    love it!

  3. kg Says:

Nice retort by you in AWH, Murray. :-)

  4. Murray Says:

    Meh, hardly cracked a sweat.

  5. ZenTiger Says:

I’, trying to work out what on earth could use up that much electricity in Al Gore’s home. I’ve come up with a few ideas:

His documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” plays on big screens in every room, 24/7
He relies on 30 mains charged golf buggies to scoot him and any guests around the mansion
He uses a secret torture chamber where electrical wires are applied to sensitive body parts of GW deniers caught picketing his house
He has 90 large air conditioning units mounted on the roof which pipe cool air into the atmosphere in the hopes he can reverse global warming
Gore installed high powered ice cube makers in the 15 bar fridges he uses to entertain visiting reporters

    any other ideas?

  6. Murray Says:

    Sex toys.

  7. Alisa Says:

kg: Sorry, Al Gore is totally obnoxious, but Mr. Lefty has a point (excluding the “Al Gore does not represent the left”, and the “stupid rant” remarks, which are by themselves stupid). As they say in Missouri: “Show me”.

  8. ZenTiger Says:

“Kalee Kreider, a spokesperson for the Gores, did not dispute the Center’s figures, taken as they were from public records. But she pointed out that both Al and Tipper Gore work out of their home and she argued that “the bottom line is that every family has a different carbon footprint. ”

    on ABC News.

  9. Murray Says:

Alisa if you have some, or indeed ANY reason to dispute this please present your argument in the space provided.

Till then, I don’t do other peoples research for them when they want to build a case against what I’ve posted.

This guy was a leftie tool and he got the crap pounded out of him in a conservative triple bitch slapping tag team of impressive magnitude.

    You got something? Show me.

  10. Murray Says:

Game, set, banana to Zen Tigger.

  11. kg Says:

Alisa, I think Zen Tiger just did that. If I get any more information (and right now I’m looking), I’ll let you know.

  12. Alisa Says:

Indeed he did, and I hope you do too, as I would love to see it used against Gore and the rest of them.

Murray: you raped my sister. No? Show me. Or, Zen Tiger just did - never mind. OK, take it easy, I don’t have a sister, but I hope you can see my point. I do have a couple of reasons. One is that the figures sound completely unreal (if they are, though - oh, boy…). Two, having lived in the US for 13 years, I don’t remember one’s power bills being public record, if they are - oh boy yet again.

  13. Murray Says:

No actually I don;t see your point.

I’ve presented something based on information available, in short a prima facie case. You say no its not but are standing there with empty hands and this is based on what you think it might be.

As Zen has done the job its pretty much a slam dunk at this point.

Any conservative walking into a leftie site armed with nothing more than his opinion is going to get slapped into next week. Thats why we fact check. Hence why if you’re going to question the validity of it you should have something to go with it in the form of contradicting evidence.

I maintain that if you want to tear down a story you need to do the leg work for it not me.

And a certain flyboy claims you all jump at my bidding.

  14. Alisa Says:

    He does? LOL!

Tearing down the story is the last thing I want to do. All I want is when someone is accusing someone else of something ugly, be they left, right or whatever, they back this accusation with something more than just hearsay. That way we don’t give our opponents an easy weapon with which to attack the story. That goes both for you and your source. As it happens, though, it seems that Zen has done the job for both of you, so yes, slam dunk.

  15. Angie Schultz Says:

I’, trying to work out what on earth could use up that much electricity in Al Gore’s home.

Treach thinks he could be a Terminator from the future, and needs to recharge.

I think he’s inventing more internet.

  16. Gadfly Says:

    *Chuckle @ Inconvenient Power Bill*

I was in a more forgiving mind before hearing him come out and say they’re “planning” a big renovation project for energy efficiency. That’s just a knee-jerk “we’ve been caught with our hand in the cookie jar – quick, deny everything and spin it!”

If he had half a brain, he would have come out and said “yes, it’s a very large facility that partly serves as my family’s home. However, it also provides full-time employment for more than a dozen people – so it is, in that fashion, more like a business than a standard single-family dwelling.”

I would be a great political spin doctor – but I’ve never known a candidate I would support unconditionally.

  17. krm Says:

Alisa - Gore has admitted the substance of the chages (i.e. he acknowledges the accuracy of the figures quoted).

Gore’s explanation is that he is “trying to cut down on use” (even though his use is going up rather than down) and that he buys “carbon offsets” for his private jet use (i.e. he is rich and can buy indulgences for his sins, while us peons are supposed to actually severely impact our lives).

    Gore is the quintessential hypocrite.

  18. Alisa Says:

    Yep.

I did not know that power bills are public record - are they in IL?

  19. krm Says:

The Tennessee records may be public due to the power being supplied by a governmental body (most governmental bodies are subject to fairly expansive ‘freedom of information’ acts)..

Most of Illinois has its power supplied by private utilities rather than a governmental entity and it is much harder to get at them.

  20. Oswald Bastable Says:

I thought a Carbon Footprint happened after you stood on a napalmed leftie…

  21. krm Says:

Alisa - AS a little follow up, the Wall Street Journal’s online site is reporting that the carbon offsets which Mr. Gore purchases are purchased from a “for profit” company of which Mr. Gore has an ownership interest.

In other words, Mr. Gore is paying himself for the carbon offsets.

  22. joy Says:

If you truly want to know just how “green” Mr. Gore’s motives are, look into the companies in which he places his “carbon offsets.” I did and the evidence is provides brilliant clarity on his motives.

  23. Al gore ladies and gentlemen… « Says:

[...] than being confined to first class private get travel. Well at leat you can afford to pay that power bill [...]
