Project for Winter.

Thumper. A full sized mangonel. Made possible after to a visit to a couple of guys with their own mill who specialise in slab furniture. The discussion went basically:

Me. “Take a look at this.” Opens back of car to show Chucky.

1st Mill bloke. “Fuuuuuck… that is so cool! Hey mill bloke 2 come and check this out.”

MB2. “Fuuuuuck.”

Me. “I want to make a full sized one that will throw a bowling ball about 600′, want to cut the the wood for it?”

MB1&2 “Fuckn oath!”

I do so enjoy working with like minded people. WMD2 will be a smash if I get funding.

We used to say “I don’t trust him as far as I can throw him” but now it seems too obvious to say.

  2. Steven Den Beste Says:

What kind of wood are you planning to use? Some sort of pine?

  3. Murray Says:

More Aussie gum. The tree has already been assigned and because its a removal job the felling and haulage are already paid for and they’re giving me the wood for free I just have pay for the milling.

Which is quite expensive but there is not stock wood anywhere on the planet for something like this.
