Friday Night Free For All
I’ll be out at the range organising the early arrivals but you know the drill.
Weather perfect for serious weekend flinging. Be there or remain unflung!

Hi! Not much happening here. I’m just glad it’s Friday! Not sure why, though.

The pungent scent from Cullen’s turd of a budget has wafted this way.
Memo to self–don’t employ anyone. No 4 weeks vacation for me but the money I will save will outweigh the compulsory donation to other peoples lives
May 18, 2007 at 7:00 pm
I don’t even want to think about the budget.
May 18, 2007 at 7:13 pm
Yes, it was a shitty budget from a shitty government.
I wonder how the latest immigratiuon figures are doing?
I thought the growth projectsions were pretty shocking.
Look like no real increase in living standards for a few more years yet.
While Oz just powers away.
Why do we have a goivernment that thinks we can live on scenery?
Not to mention poetry.
Did you see the $50K Poet Laurte awarrd?
May 18, 2007 at 7:17 pm
Hi Darren,
No, I didn’t see the $50K Poet Laurte award.
I’m not surprised that the budget is shitty, I’m just … I don’t know. Probably just so sick of politics and how it interferes in our lives.
You wouldn’t happen to know how the American grade system compares with the NZ one? In other words, is a first grader equivalent to a year 1 student? Anyone. Google is not helping me here.

Its such a shame that tax cuts are inflationary. Those five tax cuts in a row have really screwed the Australian economy haven’t they?

I’ll have a crack at the poet laureate job. Here’s a start with apologies to James K Baxter
“these grey apes will sit in the sun
and scratch for fleas and drop their dung.
For while these monkeys rule the land
There will be no luck here for the working man”

What the dickens is with this wordpress blog? It refuses to update and when I try to re-post it tells me I’ve already said that. Is it my pc?

Ah connection…
I’ll have a go at the fifty grand for the poet laureate’s job. Here’s a start with a few apologies to James K Baxter [I cobbed it from him]

Just posted on the budget - there was a cleaner in the paper who’s entitled to more “tax credit” than he pays in tax. Crazy - but I have full sympathy for his plight however.

Hey, did everyone hear about Site Meter’s ill-doings? There was something on LGF about spyware or something.

I’m concerned about this compulsory super business.
Going to have to consolodate my compulsory Aussie super, transfer it to NZ, and then liquidate it before Dr Chewing Gum nicks it.

Hi Lucyna - basically the Grade system is Grade 1 is Year 2 and so on. Spent the year there last year with my Yr6 girl in 5th Grade, and Yr8 girl who should have been in 7th Grade was mistakenly put in 8th Grade - it was a big struggle for her!
May 18, 2007 at 11:09 pm
Lucyna - Rule of thumb here is add 5 to the grade and that’s the normal age of the child in that grade.
If you’re thinking of coming this way be sure you understand that each state and school district (usually county) within the state can vary greatly. Choose the school you’re going to enroll your children in very carefully.

Thanks to both shadylady and Skyman.
We’re not thinking of moving to the US. I’ve just been researching homeschooling materials, and since so much is published in the US, I’ve needed to understand the grade system.

Have fun dude, wish I could be there!

Pictures! We want pictures!
I wanna see that castle impaled by a bolt from the arbalest, for one thing.
